I am watching Senator Barack ’s announcement of his Presidential candidacy on C-Span. He is so smart, so sensible, so articulate, so clean(no puns intended) so easy to listen to … and so impressive! I’m a little bored –had a bit too much politics in my live lately — but I want to see history unfolding. But, as a Black American, I thought I would get excited … and I didn’t excited. (I didn’t get to excited in 2004 when Obama spoke at the Democratic Convention, either.) like I did when Jesse Jackson announced his candidacy in 1984.
The music played by U2 put me to sleep. Ain’t No Stoppin’ Us Now that followed woke me up.
Obama does not wish to be seen as the Black candidate for President, but as the Presidential candidate who happens to be Black. We all know why that is; race is the ultimate litmus test of politics today and don’t let anyone tell you different. In the end, however, what is good for Black America is good for all of America And no matter how a campaign spins it, Obama is the first Black candidate in the 2008 Presidential sweepstakes. Then I heard “Shout” playing in the background. Fun song, but permanently associated with rowdy white frat boys from “Animal House.” Bad choice, particularly in the aftermath of the Duke debacle. Someone needs to remind political consultants to use common sense sometimes.
There has been alot of media questioning Obama’s support in the African American communities. Some Black observers say Obama is popular with whites because he is “safe.” They can now point as well to the fact that launching a campaign with Lincolnesque overtones from Springfield sends a mixed message to African American voters. Some Black observers have specifically stated that the Senator’s life does not “share” the American Black experience and that Obama is not a “genuine” American of African descent. I guess they didn’t get excited, either.
In all honesty, I don’t question Colin Powell’s understanding of what it is to be Black, nor do I question the mindset of Condoleeza Rice. I just don’t like their political friends, but they are indeed Black.Whether you like Obama’s politics or not — and I have not taken a position on the Presidential contest — you cannot say that Obama is not Black enough and you cannot say that he is any less qualified to be President of these United States than any other candidate past or present for that office. I am looking for the person who can incorporate all the wisdom, strength, blend it with a sense of faith, realizing the urgency, and get busy. I am looking for the strategist who can do something about world affairs. I am looking for the one who is genuine and fresh yet who has all the tools and credentials to look after my domestic issues and keep me safe. His friends gives me cause for concern
If that’s Barack Obama, it’ll be okay. If it’s someone else, let them be heard.
What are your thoughts?

Well Folks… Its Black History Month and I’ve been receiving some serious emails from folks, Black, White and Hispanic accusing us of never discussing anything other than stuff for entertainment values. I would like for anyone interesting in some serious dialogue,so let us know what is on your mind during this month. Is the State of NC finally ready to give compensation to the remaining victims, over 7000 (all females) sterilized in this state from 1929 through 1974?

When Will You BRING OUR SOLDIERS HOME or PROTECT THEM?
We already won the Iraq war: Saddam Hussein was ousted from power and now awaits execution in a jail cell, and Iraqis cast ballots in so-called free elections (at least, by Middle East standards). Whether we pull out tomorrow or in three months or in one year years or in five years, the result will always remain the same. This country will eventually become a full scale civil war and like most of the Middle East remain a hotbed of instability and chaos. Us being there will only delay it. So, let’s set a time table to disengage or start using all our force to win this damn thing. We have helped them and now they need to help themselves or get the hell out of the way and let the soldiers protect themselves.
For us to pretend otherwise is to simply allow more and more American soldiers to die or be maimed for no good reason.
Let’s let them determine their future. I don’t know if it needs to be partitioned into three separate nations [Sunni], [Shiite] or [Kurdish]. It worked in India/Pakistan.
We need to support our brave American men and women in uniform, and remove them from harms way. I don’t like to see dead American soldiers coming home in coffins, (we must remember Viet Nam). With a new Democratic Congress, already filled with rhetoric, when can we expect some sensible solutions. Can the new Congress continue this simply masochistic and outrageous insanity. As of today, there have been 2,864 US soldiers killed in Iraq (and over 20,000 wounded). How many more need to die before it’s time to understand this war is out of our hands. Congress, Mr. President get off your butts and Let’s figure out when to bring our soldiers home.

Back in 1994 when I predicted that the Repubs would take over, my friends snickered behind my back. This year when I suggested that the Dems would run the table, my friends gave me that crazy look questioning my sanity.
There’s a beautiful thing about elections, whether your side wins or loses. All at once politicians have to shut up and let Voters speak. And, the next day, the world seems so different when the results comes in.
It could be better or worse, depending on your viewpoint or stakes in the process. You may think, as Repubs did in 1994, that all has now been set right in the world with the Contract With America. You may think, as Dems do today, that the Contract Have Expired.
Whatever, it was to the point and decisive. Most people thinks everything changes, but a wake-up reality call needs to hit us. The winners start writing position papers and inaugural speeches, dreaming of inserting more pork in the budget. The losers sits around bitchin about how the people have spoken all the while polishing up their resumes.
Well FOLKS, this year, the people spoke loud and clear:
Democrats started smelling the White House.
Donald Rumsfeld got the heave-ho.
Republicans started worrying that they are being politically marginalized.
Conservatives starts thinking the Repubs have abandon them.
Liberals starts thinking they have a mandate.
Independents know they hold the key to the madness of 2008.
Candidates have already started campaigning for 2008.
Well for all the winners and losers alike, please allow me remind you: How did you feel at this time two years ago? How did you feel in 1994? Would you have predicted this then? I doubt it.
You can take this to the bank. You’ll be just as surprised two years from now.
Bush’s Did Some Fast Fancy Footwork.
George Bush ran a terrible midterm campaign that Roved out in the end, but he made a swift recovery the day after the election by dumping Rumsfeld. He stole the cable headlines and the front pages from Nancy Pelosi and the Dems. The Dems are more likely to help Bush pass his Immigration bill, opening up a can of worms for 2008.
In 1994, President Clinton stumbled and staggered for weeks while Newt Gingrich dominated the news. Bush was savvy enough to avoid that mistake. He put himself back into play with one bold, decisive, audacious stroke and Karl Rove was no where around.
In politics, speed kills. How happy will everyone be in 2008?

NORTH CAROLINA: Things Getting Strange on Planet Robinson
Vernon Robinson (R-NC) likes to describe himself as “the black Jesse Helms.” Over the years Robinson has lost two bids for State Superintendent of Public Instruction and a run for Congress two years ago in a different district. His penchant for outrageous conduct. His current run against CD-13 Congressman Brad Miller (D) is no exception. The two men debated this week and Robinson was true to form. Spending much of the debate talking about sex, Robinson charged that Miller “wants to import homosexuals” into the state and supported studies “that would pay teenage girls” to watch porn. Miller refused to take Robinson seriously, spending much of the debate clearly enjoying the absurdity of Robinson’s comments and chuckling aloud

We think it is imperative that we educate our people about politics and its impact upon them and their families. The two party system is good for AA’s because that way, our Vote is Not Taken For Granted or Totally Ignored. We want to share things with other AA’s and others. Thank you for visiting our site.
As is customary of all candidates on our site, we remind you of our motto:“Judge Candidates on their Deeds Rather Than their Political Parties.
You will find Democrats, Republicans, Independents, and others.
Take a long look at these politicians and
visit his/her web site.
Again, we remind you to look at the candidate’s history and issues before making your final decision. It is imperative that we not allow our Vote to be taken for Granted or Totally Neglected
