Blogging the Wayne County Convention

Today, I’m blogging the Wayne County Republican Convention

Approximate 100 people showed up on a nasty gloomy day.

Today, we are live blogging the Wayne County Convention, at 8:30 a.m. at the Wayne Center in Goldsboro.

Wayne County Chairman Mark Corbett, also a candidate for reelection, introduced a speaker from the Freedom Works, Robin Staudt, and she was sort of long winded, causing me a little discomfort because this was my first public appearance without the aid of my hummer(Hub-Around Wheel Chair). NC State Senator David Rouser, State Rep. Efton Sager, County Commissioners, Steve Keen, Andy Anderson and Sheriff Carey Winters all spoke. Letters was read from NC Senator Richard Burr and candidates running for the NC chair. The ongoing theme was a call for new and younger people to get involved and work toward the 2010 elections. New officers was elected and we will see If we chart a new direction. My advice to Wayne Repubs is to keep a line of communication open within the African-American communities and don’t just interact within when we are having a general election. My good friend, Dorothy Hardy, Syl Wilkerson and another unknown African American showed up, giving us a total of 4 out of 100. This is unacceptable, because we need to be in both parties.

This is Big Loo and I am super excited to be covering the DNC and hope to keep you informed about what’s going on .I am staying at the Brown Palace Hotel in downtown Denver. As you well know, I am not a fan of Joe ( The Good, Great, Bad and Ugly) Biden, so I’ll leave this city as soon as he speaks.

Sharing a room with a old buddy from NY and our Political Guru, Ms Burnetta Graves, who will be blogging from this city. Magic is in the air and security is tighten than Ft Knox. Had a chance to speak with Brad Thompson and Everette Ward, a super delegate from NC. Both are very hush mouth about what is expected from the Clintons. Had a nice slice of cheese cake and washed it down with a bottle of apple cider/non-alcohol.

What not to expect from me here in Denver. I will not mention gays/lesbians and I will try not to be to cruel to the Clintons. I look forward to seeing some old friends and political colleagues.

I saw a bunch of anti-war activists marching through downtown Denver on this evening even before the Democratic convention get started, waving signs and chanting, “Stop the torture, stop the war. That’s what we’re fighting for.

Hold on and I’ll report more tomorrow, but the speakers tomorrow doesn’t invoke any enthusiastic on my part with the exception of Michelle Obama.

Presidential candidate Barack Obama wrapped up a three-day swing through Florida on Friday, with a rally in Broward County chasing Cubans– the largest Democratic base in the state. A crowd of 20,000 braved heavy afternoon rains outside as they lined-up to pass through security checkpoints to attend the rally, some waiting in line outside cheered Obama, as he praised rival Hillary Clinton for the race she ran for the nomination, frequently distinguished his views from those of John McCain hinting that electing McCain would (“a third Bush term”), and vowed to aggressively compete in Florida in the general election with frequent visits.

Obama said he was willing as President to meet with Cuban President Raul Castro to discuss improving relations between the two countries coupled with an improvement in human rights in Cuba. He also called for an immediate end to the restrictions on Cuban-Americans traveling to Cuba and sending money home to relatives still living on the island. Obama received several standing ovations from the CANF audience during his remarks. Fidel Castro’s own estranged daughter — a prominent anti-communist leader in Miami’s exile community — warmly praised Obama afterwards. “I believe he is the only candidate who has spoken sincerely about the intentions that he has toward Cuba.

Republicans seems to have their hand in the Democratic primaries.And since the majority of Democrats are racial bigots that have done nothing but talk about racial equality for votes, where do we go from here?

I listened to Rush Limbaugh’s radio show yesterday afternoon. It is full of foolishness to a point. He is positively giddy over the prospect of Barack Obama becoming the nominee. He hates the Democrats, yet everyday is pushing for Obama.

Now why do you think that is? Why is Karl “Crooked” Rove giving Obama tips on how to defeat Hillary? And why have all the old warriors from the Civil Rights movement backed Hillary? What is with this Oprah endorsement?

Last Night Dem/Suspects Debates on CNN

The first few minutes of the Democratic presidential debate in Las Vegas featured clashes between the top three candidates/prospects/suspects — Hillary Rodham Clinton, Barack Obama and John Edwards — over Social Security, Iran and telling the truth.

The rest of the night was seven candidates repeating speeches I’ve heard before. The Wolf Man seemed to be in another world. The part I like most was the clear animosity and sheer coolness that HRC exhibited when she entered the arena, simply iggin Obama and company, not shaking his hand. Obama, Edwards, Obama and Dodd came on stage shaking each others hand like they was at a Pimp’s Convention.

HRC stopped that jive real quick. I’m not going to tell you who won the debate(covering nose) but you decide. I still haven’t picked a pony in this race, so don’t start bugging me about who won. Give me your bias assessments. So Sound Off.
